Why it matters

How you coach matters.

Two coaches can deliver exactly the same message and get completely different responses.

One athlete may respond to directness and challenge. Another may need context, reassurance or time to process.

The same applies within coaching teams. What feels clear and decisive to one person may feel abrupt to another.

There is no single right way to coach.

The advantage is understanding your natural style and knowing when to adapt it.

That's where Coach Insights begins.

Discover your coaching style

A clearer picture of how you naturally operate.

Hypa Coach Insights uses the CoachDISC behavioural framework to help you better understand the way you coach, communicate and lead. Your personalised report explores six important areas.

01

Your natural style

Understand your instinctive behavioural preferences and how you naturally approach coaching situations.

02

Communication

Discover how you tend to communicate, provide direction, deliver feedback and interact with others.

03

Coaching strengths

Identify the behavioural qualities that can help you operate effectively in your coaching environment.

04

Potential blind spots

Recognise where your natural tendencies may be less effective in certain situations or with different personalities.

05

Behaviour under pressure

Explore how your behavioural tendencies may shift or become amplified when expectations rise.

06

Your adapted style

Understand how you believe you need to behave in your current coaching role and how that may differ from your natural preferences.

It's not about changing who you are. It's about understanding yourself well enough to make more intentional choices.

Natural vs adapted style

How naturally are you operating in your coaching environment?

One of the most valuable elements of Coach Insights is understanding the difference between your natural and adapted behavioural styles.

Your natural style

How you're naturally inclined to behave, communicate and respond.

Your adapted style

How you believe you need to behave to meet the expectations of your current role or environment.

The differences can provide useful insight into where you're adapting, what your environment may be asking of you and where further reflection could be valuable.

The aim isn't to label your behaviour. It's to understand it, so you have more choice in how you show up.

Beyond the individual

Better coaching starts with understanding the people around you.

Understanding your own style is the starting point. The next opportunity comes from understanding how different behavioural styles interact.

Coach + athlete
Understand how your behavioural styles compare, where communication may naturally align and where adapting your approach could strengthen the coaching relationship.

Coach + coach
Explore complementary strengths, behavioural differences and potential friction within a coaching partnership.

Coaching teams
Build a clearer picture of the behavioural dynamics across a coaching or high-performance team.

Sporting organisations
Use behavioural insights to support coaching development, leadership conversations and more intentional people-development initiatives.

When people better understand themselves and each other, they have a stronger foundation for working together.

The benefits

Small shifts in awareness can change the way you coach.

  • Recognise your natural coaching strengths
  • Communicate more effectively with different athletes
  • Adapt your approach to different behavioural styles
  • Understand your responses under pressure
  • Identify potential blind spots
  • Navigate differences within coaching teams
  • Strengthen coach and athlete relationships
  • Create a more intentional coaching environment

Better awareness creates more choice. More choice creates opportunities for better coaching.

There's no perfect coaching profile.

Coach Insights isn't designed to judge whether you're a good coach. It doesn't measure your technical knowledge, intelligence or likelihood of success.

And there is no single behavioural style that makes someone an effective coach. Every coaching style brings its own strengths and potential challenges.

The purpose is simple. Understand how you naturally operate, recognise how your behaviour may influence others and learn when adapting your approach could make a difference.

Your profile is a starting point for development, not a definition of who you are.

Behavioural insight with a coaching focus.

Coach Insights uses the CoachDISC behavioural profiling framework, developed specifically for coaches and sporting environments.

Rather than relying solely on a generic workplace personality assessment, CoachDISC places behavioural understanding within the context of coaching, leadership, communication and performance relationships.

Hypa combines this framework with a personalised debrief delivered by a DISC-accredited consultant, who helps interpret your report and identify practical opportunities relevant to your coaching environment.

Because knowing your behavioural style is one thing. Understanding what it means for the way you coach is where the value begins.

FAQ

A few things you might be wondering.

Is Coach Insights a personality test?

Not quite. Coach Insights uses the CoachDISC behavioural framework to explore how you naturally tend to behave, communicate and respond within a coaching environment.

It isn't about determining whether you're a good or bad coach. It's about developing greater awareness of your behavioural preferences, strengths and potential blind spots.

What will I receive?

Your Coach Insights package includes an online CoachDISC behavioural assessment, a personalised Coach Insights Report, an individual debrief with a DISC-accredited consultant, and practical interpretation of your results within your coaching environment.

Can I purchase the report without the debrief?

No. At Hypa, we believe the real value comes from understanding what your results mean, not simply receiving a report.

Your report contains detailed behavioural information, including your natural and adapted styles, communication preferences, strengths and potential challenges. That's why every package includes a personalised debrief with a DISC-accredited consultant.

We want you to leave with clarity and practical understanding, not just a report full of information.

Will my profile tell me what type of coach I should be?

No. There's no single ideal coaching style. Coach Insights helps you better understand your existing behavioural tendencies and recognise where adapting your approach may be useful.

The goal is to expand your awareness and flexibility, not change your personality.

Can Coach Insights be used with my athletes or coaching team?

Yes. Coach Insights can be a starting point for exploring behavioural dynamics across coaching relationships and performance teams.

By comparing individual profiles, we can identify areas of natural alignment, behavioural differences and opportunities to improve mutual understanding and communication.

Do I need to commit to a larger program?

No. You can begin with an individual Coach Insights package, which includes your assessment, personalised report and facilitated debrief.

If you find the process valuable, we can explore how it might be extended to your athletes, coaching colleagues or wider organisation. There's no requirement to commit to a larger program to get started.
